KAJIAN KUALITAS PERAIRAN SUNGAI TELANG BERDASARKAN PARAMETER KIMIA, FISIKA DAN STRUKTUR KOMUNITAS FITOPLANKTON
The waters of the Telang River are used by the community as a source of water for domestic activities, fishing activities and also a means of water transportation. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of waste on the ecology of phytoplankton as an indicator of a waters. This research was conducted in August 2020. The data taken included physical parameters (temperature, current velocity, light intensity and brightness), biological parameters (phytoplankton) and chemical parameters (salinity, pH, dissolved oxygen, nitrate and phosphate). The research location is divided into 10 stations. The relationship between the phytoplankton community and the physico-chemical parameters was carried out through principal component analysis (PCA). The composition of phytoplankton found in the waters of the Telang River as many as 5 genera namely Coscinodiscus, Oscillatoria, Skeletonema, Aulacoseira and Pleurosigma. The abundance of phytoplankton in the waters of the Telang River ranged from 153 – 2,546 cells/L, diversity and uniformity in the low category, while dominance in the high category. The values of the physico-chemical parameters in the waters of the Telang River are: pH ranged from 6.71 – 6.93, temperature (27 oC –29oC), brightness (0.13 m – 0.29 m), salinity (3 ppt – 6.2 ppt), COD (6 mg/l -7 mg/l), BOD (1.92 – 2.33 mg/l), nitrate (5.51 mg/l – 6.67 mg/l), phosphate (0.012 mg/l – 0.028 mg/l), TSS (22.7 mg/l – 26.4 mg/l) and current (0.08 m/s - 0.27 m/s). Based on the results of PCA analysis, it was found that the characterizing variables were: abundance, brightness, diversity index, uniformity, COD, BOD, Nitrate and TSS.
