Kungkilan is located in Ogan Komering Ulu Regency, South Sumatra Province, which is 35 minutes drive from Baturaja City. This study aims to determine how the ancient climate conditions in the Gumai Formation were. The results of the study can then be used to determine the climate in the relative depositional environment of the Gumai Formation using a descriptive paleontological analysis method, namely rock sampling and preparation of planktonic and benthic fossil samples with hydrogen peroxide solution which aims to separate fossils from the substrate and then interpreted in the form of tables, graphs and model written in the report. The depth obtained from the analysis of benthic foraminifera fossils (Barker, 1960) is interpreted to affect the temperature of the marine environment (Ingle, 1980) and the climate during the deposition process (Koppen-Geiger, 2007). In addition, certain planktonic foraminifera fossils during the Miocene in the Indo-Pacific region can be used to characterize groups of warm climates and cool climates (Kennett et al, 1985). Based on the results of research at six locations, the Gumai Formation has a depth of depositional environment ranging from 14 - 270 m and is in the Transition to Neritic zone. In six samples from each location, an average environmental temperature of 18o C was obtained which indicates that the location environment has a Tropical Rain Forest (Af) climate according to Koppen-Geiger (2007) and the presence of Globigerinoides sp. The abundance indicates the location has a tropical climate that is included in the category of the warm climate group (Kennett, 1985). So it can be concluded, the ancient climate at the research site has a Tropical Climate.
