Hydrothermal alteration research was carried out in the Air Sanggul area, Muaradua, Ogan Komering Ulu Selatan Regency. Hydrothermal alteration changes primary minerals into secondary ones caused by several physical and chemical factors. In identifying alteration minerals in the research area, two methods of analysis were carried out: petrographic analysis and XRD analysis to determine the clay minerals found in the study area. Apart from alteration, the research area has also experienced mineralization. This mineralization is evidenced by the association of pyrite minerals with quartz veins and opacity in the andesite rocks of the Garba Formation. Hydrothermal alteration minerals found in the andesite rock of the Garba Formation are quartz, plagioclase, orthoclase, pyroxene, olivine, biotite, sericite, chlorite, calcite, scapolite, lampropilite, zinwaldite, corundum, hornblende, sanidine, natrolite, wollastonite, diaspore, and smectite. From all the mineral assemblages found in the andesite rocks of the Garba Formation, a zone or type of alteration in the form of sub-propylitic alteration formed at a temperature of 150o - 300o C, a sub-propylitic - advanced argillic alteration type formed at a temperature of 200o – 400o C, then a further type of argillic - philic alteration formed at a temperature of 200o – 450o C and the type of philic alteration found at a temperature of 200o -300o C. The stages of formation of the alteration type in the study area started with the sub-propylitic type, the advanced sub-propylitic-argillic alteration type was in the second stage, then the third stage there was the advanced argillic-philic alteration type and the last stage was the philic alteration type. Factors that affect the formation of alteration in andesite rocks of the Garba Formation are caused by factors of temperature and pressure, geological structure, permeability, chemical composition, and the presence of factors from the concentration of hydrothermal solutions
