PENGARUH ELEKTRODA YANG BERBEDA (ZN, CU, GRAFIT) TERHADAP POTENSI LISTRIK PADA SEDIMENT MICROBIAL FUEL CELL (SMFC) DI PULAU PAYUNG, SUMATERA SELATAN
SMFC is a development of the concept of the use of Microbial Fuel Cells (MFC) with the concept of planting anodes in anoxic sediments and cathodes located in the water column. This experimental research aims to determine the potential of SMFC technology on Payung Island and find out the effectiveness of optimal electrodes for use on SMFC (Zn, Cu, graphite). The implementation of the research was carried out in September-October 2021. Sampling was carried out in Pulau Payung, South Sumatra. Research activities include the association of SMFC using different electrodes (Zn-Zn, Cu-Cu, graphite-graphite), measuring the electrical voltage of each circuit, and converting electrical voltage to current density. The results showed that the current density in each sample at stations 1 and 2 was worth 11.904-647.321 and 10.42-388.39 mA/M² for Cu electrodes, Zn Electrodes 3.05 – 212.149 and 4.96 - 219.78 mA/M². Graphite electrodes 3.05 - 212.149 and 4.96 - 219.78 mA/M². The potential of SMFC in station 1 has a value of 158.9979 mA/M² and in station 2 143.5955 mA/M². Based on the results of the study can be concluded the optimal electrode sequence is Cu, Zn, and finally graphite. Station 1 has greater potential than station 2 in generating electrical energy.
