SKRINING AKTIVITAS ANTIOKSIDAN EKSTAK METANOL DARI TUMBUHAN OBAT MASYARAKAT KAYU AGUNG
Each tribe/ethnic has different beliefs regarding the use of medicinal plants. People in Kayu Agung sub-district use medicinal plants as traditional medicine. Plants contain secondary metabolites such as phenolics and flavonoids which are thought to have antioxidant properties that play a role in neutralizing free radicals by inhibiting oxidation reactions. This study aims to determine the characterization of the extract, determine the total phenolic and flavonoid levels and antioxidant activity. Antioxidant testing was carried out using the DPPH method (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) which was extracted using the maceration method with methanol p.a as solvent. Furthermore, the extract was characterized and determined the total phenolic and flavonoid content using UV-Vis Spectrophotometric colorimetry method. In addition, quantitative data were analyzed using SPSS (Statistical Program for Social Science). The results showed that the characterization of the methanol extract of the Kayu Agung community met the requirements of the Indonesian Ministry of Health 2017. The highest total phenolic content was obtained by matoa leaves 121.92 mgGAE/g and the highest flavonoid content obtained by matoa leaves 77.88 mgQE/g. The results of the IC50 value of the methanol extract of the medicinal plants of the Kayu Agung community that avocado leaves were 13.89 μg/mL, avocado seeds 14.74 μg/mL, leaf ashoka 10.11 μg/mL, star fruit 57.75 μg/mL, star fruit wuluh fruit 278.96 μg/mL, aloe vera leaf 296.78 μg/mL, mangosteen leaf 14.44 μg/mL, mangosteen bark 43.06 μg/mL, leaf matoa 8.89 μg/mL, matoa bark 22.64 μg/mL, jackfruit leaves 22.41 μg/mL, jackfruit bark 81.95 μg/mL, papaya leaves 318.04 μg/mL and papaya fruit 457.54 μg/mL. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that medicinal plants avocado leaves, avocado seeds, leaf ashoka, mangosteen leaves, leaf matoa, bark matoa and jackfruit leaves have very strong antioxidant activity compared to other medicinal plants.
