APLIKASI FILTER KERAMIK BERBASIS TANAH LIAT DAN KATALIS BEKAS YANG DIKOMBINASI DENGAN MEMBRAN REVERSE OSMOSIS (RO) UNTUK PENGOLAHAN AIR TERPRODUKSI
This study examines the effect of ceramic filter composition and the reverse osmosis (RO) membranes on improving the quality of produced water by reducing total dissolved solids (TDS), phenol, and barium. The ceramic filters were fabricated using a spent catalyst, clay, and dioscorea hispida starch. The spent catalyst is the residue catalytic cracking (RCC) unit used with and without activation. The ratio of materials for the ceramic filter in this study was 60% the spent catalyst: 37.5% clay: 2.5% dioscorea hispida starch. A similar ratio was prepared using 37.5% spent catalyst 60% clay: 2.5% dioscorea hispida starch. The operating conditions in this study were flow rates of the sample as 5 L/min, 6 L/min, and 7 L/min and operating times of 30, 60, and 90 min. The parameter investigated were TDS, phenol, and barium concentration. The results showed that ceramic filter with the composition of 37.5% spent catalyst, 60% clay, and 2.5% dioscorea starch reduced the TDS, phenol, and barium as 51.44%, 85.29%, and 27.94% followed by RO as TDS 69.68%, phenol 28.97%, and barium 93.70%. It can be concluded that ceramic filter from the spent catalyst and followed by RO membrane was suitable to reduce TDS, phenol, and barium concentration from produced water.
