RANCANG BANGUN PROTOTYPE GENERATOR IMPULS RC PORTABLE MENGGUNAKAN HIGH FREQUENCY RESPONSE MOSFET
Impulse generator is an equipment that can produce high voltage or current output waves in the form of impulse to test the safety resistance of electric power equipment. This research aims to design and manufacture a prototype of a portable impulse RC generator using a semiconductor in the form of a High Frequency Response MOSFET as a substitute for switching on the spark gap. Circuit design and simulation of a portable impulse generator using LTSpice XVII software, after which the prototype was building and tested with an oscilloscope. The wave parameters measured from the simulation and testing are peak voltage (Vp), front time (t1), and tail time (t2). From the simulation using the LTSpice XVII software, it is found that the peak voltage (Vp) is 205,86 V with a time of 4,48 μs, the front time (t1) is 1.30 μs, and the tail time (t2) is 43,18 μs. Furthermore, for the test results on an oscilloscope at low voltage it was found that the peak voltage (Vp) is 196,40 V with a time of 4,46 μs, Front time (t1) is 1.25 μs, and Tail Time (t2) is 43,05 μs. From the data obtained, the comparison between simulation and testing went well with an overall average error value of 4,67 % and it can be seen that the test and simulation values obtained are still within the impulse voltage tolerance limit with a standard IEC 60060-1 is 1.2/50 μs.
