Background: Diabetic nephropathy occurs in almost 60% of people with diabetes who have hypertension in Asia, the number of patient with diabetic nephropathy in Asia is higher than people. In South Sumatra, diabetic nephropathy was fourth (12,7%) after glomerulonefritis (29,28 %), obstructive uropathy (21,4%) and nephrosclerosis (22,37%) as the etiology of chronic kidney disease in RSMH Palembang. Objective: This study was conducted to investigate the caracteristics of diabetic nephropathy patients those undergoing hemodialysis in RSMH Palembang during period January- December 2012. Methods: Descriptive observasional study conducted on April-July 2013 in medical record departmen of hemodialysis installation RSMH Palembang. The population was patient undergoing hemodialysis during period January-December 2012. These samples included 274 patient undergoing hemodialysis, and only 49 patients undergoing hemodilaysis with diagnose diabetic nephropathy. Results: On the patient those undergoing hemodialysis we have a result that the patient with diabetic nephropathy is commonly have a hypertention stage 2, the blood pressure is above 160/100 mmHg, and a blood sugar level is uncontrol, the blood sugar level above 126mg/dl or below 60mg/dl. The result of ureum and creatinine level on the patient with nephropathy diabetic those undergoing hemodialysis is elevated. Conclusion and recomendation: Based on the result, diabetic nephropathy patients undergoing hemodialysis, the blood pressure, blood sugar levels, ureum and creatinine level is elevated before undergoing hemodialysis. Patients with diabetic nephropathy must be control they blood pressure, blood sugar level, ureum and creatinine level for preventing the pregresivity of the disease.
