UJI AKTIVITAS ANTIBAKTERI KOMBINASI JAHE MERAH (Zingiber officinale var. Rubrum) DAN VCO PADA BAKTERI Staphylococcus epidermidis.
Red Ginger Essential Oil and Virgin Coconut Oil are known to have antibacterial activity which is sensitive to Gram-positive bacteria Staphlococus epidermidis. This study aims to determine the dominant combination of the two oils or a single that has antibacterial properties. The test is carried out by testing the characteristics of the chemical physical properties. The antibacterial activity test used disc paper, the MIC test was carried out using the liquid dilution method and the MIC test was performed using the Total Plate Count method. The oil concentrations used were 50%, 25%, 12.5% 8.3%, and 6.25% for the Red Ginger and Virgin Coconut Oil tests. The results of the MIC test of Red Ginger Essential Oil at a concentration of 25% and Virgin Coconut MIC results at a concentration of 25%, both activity tests showed normal distribution with a significant (p>0,05) against other concentrations. The results of the KBM test for red ginger essential oil were found at a concentration of 50% and Virgin Coconut oil at a concentration of 50% and for a combination of 25% and 8,3%. The determination of synergism was determined based on the combination MIC contained in the oil concentration of 12,5% and 6,25%. The FICI value obtained is 0,75 with the type of synergism, namely partial synergism. The results of the combination antibacterial activity test at an oil concentration of 12,5% and 6,25% found that the activity strength was quite strong with an inhibition zone diameter of 21 ± 0,408 mm. Keywords: Red Ginger Essential Oil, Virgin Coconut Oil, KHM, KBM, FICI (Fractional Inhibitory Concentration), Staphylococus epidermidis, Antibacterial
