PREVALENSI, FAKTOR RISIKO, DAN PENYEBAB KATARAK PADA PENDUDUK USIA 40 TAHUN ATAU LEBIH DI KECAMATAN KERTAPATI KOTA PALEMBANG TAHUN 2012
Background: Cataract is a opacity of lens that caused by hidration of lens and protein denaturation. Cataract can be caused by many factors, such as aging, ultraviolet radiation, history of fanuly, trauma, eye mfection, diabetes, smoking, alcohol, myopi, history of drugs consumption and body index. Fifty percent of blindness in the world are mostly caused by cataract. In 2001, the total incidence of cataract in Indonesia is reaching 4,99%. This high rate of cataract incidences and also the risk factor made researcher to do a research about the prevalence of cataract, the risk factor and cause of cataract in population at the age of 40 years or more in the city of Palembang Kertapati in 2012. Methode: This study used analitic survey method with cross-sectional design which has been held in Kertapati on Palembang city with a total 77 samplc. Data was analyzed by distribution ffequency tabel to look the prevalence of cataract, together with Chi-square and T-test to determine the association between cataract with risk factors and caused of cataract. Result: Prevalence of cataract in Kertapati is about 49,4%. Cataract mostly found in age above 50 years old (p = 0.003) but there is no significant association between cataract with gender (p = 0,418), occupation (p = 0,742), family history (p = 0,087), a history of smoking (p = 0,564), alcohol consumption (p = 0,737), a history of eye infections (p = 1,000), a history of trauma (p = 1,000), myopia (p = 0,310), hypertension (p = 0,255), diabetes mellitus (p = 0,519), a history of medicine (1,000), body mass index (p = 0,698) and glaucoma. Conclusion: Prevalence of cataract in Kertapati on Palembang city is 49,4%. Cataract has significant association with age above 50 years old, but no significant association with gender, jobs, history of family, history of smoking, alcohol consumption, history of eye infection, history of trauma, myopia, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, history of medicine, glaucoma and body mass index.
