KELIMPAHAN ZOOPLANKTON DI PERAIRAN SUNGAI MUSI BAGIAN HILIR SUMATERA SELATAN
Zooplankton has an important role in waters such as influencing the food chain. Zooplankton serves as an indicator of the quality of a waters. Zooplankton has living conditions that are very closely related to physical, chemical and biological parameters in the aquatic environment. The purpose of this study was to identify the types of zooplankton and to determine the abundance and distribution of zooplankton in the Lower Musi River, South Sumatra. This research was conducted in September 2021 in the Lower Musi River, South Sumatra. Sampling of zooplankton using plankton net with a mesh size of 30 µm with a mouth diameter of 30 cm Plankton net, at a depth of 2 meters below the water surface. Zooplankton analysis was carried out at the Marine Bioecology Laboratory, Department of Marine Science, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Sriwijaya University. The results of zooplankton observations in the Lower Musi River, South Sumatra, have found 3 major groupings of zooplankton, namely the phylum Crustacea (Nauplius, Copepoda, Branciopoda, Shrimp Larvae, Calanus, Diaptomus, Oithona), Annelida (Polychaeta) and Fish Larvae. The Lower Musi River has an abundance of zooplankton ranging from 708-23708 ind/m³, with a moderate diversity index value, high uniformity, and no dominance.
