Background. Crowded is a discrepancy between tooth size and jaw size which may cause an adverse effect on oral health especially anterior crowded. The prevalence of anterior crowded is about 35,1%. In general, crowded can be caused due to genetic and environmental factors such as ethnicity which had certain characteristics and dental arch width that was different. Objective. The purpose of this study was lo know the comparison of maxillary dental arch width in cas e of anterior crowded between Arabic and Chinese ethnic in Palembang using Pont ’s method. Material and Method. This study was a cross-sectional analitic descriptive study. The number of sample in this study were 60 participants (30 participants were from Arabic ethnic and 30 participants from Chinese ethnic). The whole samples were measured based on maxillary inter first premolar width and inter first molar width from Pont’s method with sliding caliper. The data was analyzed by using Chi-Square lest. Results. The result of the study showed that it was found 90% of Arabic ethnic and 53,33% of Chinese ethnic had contraction maxillary inter first premolar width. On the mcDcillary inter first molar width, it was found that 80% of Arabic ethnic and 40% of Chinese ethnic had contraction dental arch width.
