The elderly was a person who passed the aging process with the increase of age and decrease of physical function. A total or partial lose of teeth could be marked of aging process. It could be caused by the caries, periodontal disease, and also poor of oral hygiene. The purpose of this study was t o knowing the differences of oral and teeth appearance in elderly at Tresna Werdha Teratai Institut ion and Dharma Bakti Institution. The methodology used in this study was a descriptive observational. The study was conducted at Tresna Werdha Teratai Institution and Dharma Bakti Institution Palembang. The sample for this study was 86 pers ons. Data was obtained from clinical examinations form DMF-T index, CPITN index, PDI index, and the disease of oral soft tissues. Existing data would be analyzed by the Chi-square test. The result of statistical analysis showed that there was a significant differences of disease of oral soft tissues and periodontal treatment needs while there was no significant differences of caries and edentulous at both of institutions. It was concluded that there was no differences of appearance of oral and teeth in elderly at both of institutitions.
