ANALISIS KEANEKARAGAMAN MAKROZOOBENTOS DI PERAIRAN MUARA SUNGAI UPANG, SUMATERA SELATAN
The mouth of the Upang River, South Sumatra is one of the mouths of the Musi River. As we know that around the waters of the Musi River there are community activities that affect the quality and dynamics of the surrounding waters. This condition has the potential to cause environmental pollution which greatly affects the survival of the macrozoobenthos community. This study aims to determine the water quality in terms of physical and chemical parameters and the diversity of macrozoobenthos in the waters of the Upang River Estuary. The research was carried out in March 2021, the research location was divided into 9 research stations. Sampling includes samples of macrozoobenthos, measurements of water physico-chemical parameters and sediment samples. The results showed that there were 16 species of macrozoobenthos which were grouped into 3 classes, namely bivalves, gastropods and crustaceans. The results of sediment analysis show that the average sediment in the Upang River Estuary has clay and sandy loam substrates. The results of the analysis of the macrozoobenthos community structure in the waters of the Upang River Estuary, the highest abundance was at station 2 (28 ind/m2) and the lowest was at station 4 (7 ind/m2). The macrozoobenthos community structure shows a low to moderate diversity index (H') (0.6 – 2.31), a stable uniformity index (E) (0.22 – 0.83), and a dominance value (C) ranging from 0.11 – 0.59 which means that no species dominates. The results of water quality measurements show that the average values of temperature, DO, salinity and pH are quite good for the life of Macrozoobenthos.
