Background: Conjunctivitis is the most common eye disease in the world. Conjunctivitis is inore commonly known as the pink eye, is an inflammation of the conjunctiva, the clear inembrane that covers the white part of the eye and the inner surface of the eyelid. Inflammation «)f the conjunctiva causes a variety of symptoms, one of which is a red eye. .Wthod: The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of patients with conjunctivitis in br . Mohammad Hoesin Public Hospital, Palembang , within the period of January 01, 2013- t)ecember 31, 2013. Variables assessed include gender, age, type of conjunctivitis, and the bilateral of conjunctivitis. This research was conducted with descriptive research and secondary data was collected by looking at the entire data with medical records of conjunctivitis disease Without systemic abnormalities that has been recorded. Results: The results showed 48 patients with conjunctivitis and most patients were female (29 patients, 60.4 %), by age group most are adults, 26-45 years (16 patients, 33.35 %), and the type of conjunctivitis that is frequent is conjunctivitis due to allergy (20 patients 41.7 %). Conjunctivitis affects both the right and the left eyes at the same time (21 patients, 43.8 %). Conclusion: Conjunctivitis is predominantly in women but it occurs in general population. Based on the above data, education about the risks of conjunctivitis may be appropriate in the general population.
