FAKTOR RISIKO KATARAK SENILIS DI RS. KHUSUS MATA MASYARAKAT PROVINSI SUMATERA SELATAN PERIODE 1 JANUARI 2012-1 DESEMBER 2012
Background: Cataract is the clouding of the lens where each State of the eye which occurs as a result of hydration (adding liquid) lens, lens protein denaturation or due to both. Cataracts are the cause of 47.8% of blindness in the world. Therefore, it is important to know the risk factors of cataract. Objective: To observe the risk factors of senile cataract at the Rumah Sakit Khusus Mata Masyarakat South Sumatra Province from the period of 1 January 2012-1 December 2012. Method: The study was an observational analytic manifold with a cross-sectional design at Rumah Sakit Khusus Mata Masyarakat South Sumatra Province from the period of 1 January 2012-1 December 2012. Medical record data was taken as the data to determine the risk factors cataract. Results: Of the 260 samples, 258 samples (99.2%) suffered from senile cataract mature and 2 samples from (0.8%) immature senile cataract. There was a significant relationship between senile cataract with hypertension (p=0.003; OR=1,081, 95% CI= 0.067 to 17,463). Significant relationship between senile cataract with diabetes mellitus (p= 0.000; OR= 1.000, 95% CI= 0.062 to 16,160), no significant relationship between senile cataract with gender (p=1.838; OR= 1.015, 95% CI= 0.994 to 1036), no significant relationship between senile cataract with age (p= 0.072; OR= 1.008, 95% CI= 0.997 to 1019). Conclusion: Hence, there was a significant relationship between senile cataract risk factors with hypertension and diabetes mellitus but there was no significant relationship between senile cataract with gender and age.
