The Chinese ethnicity is known as one of the ethnic groups that migrates to the region a lot, including in trade relations. The migration required this ethnic group to settle, so they built a settlement. One of them can be found on the banks of the Musi River, Palembang City. The presence of ethnic Chinese in Palembang City produces a different cultural characteristic. Culture itself is a process of developing a mindset that occurs gradually and over a long period of time. This process occurs from generation to generation and continues to grow. The formation of cultural character, one of which comes from environmental factors. Chinese culture in Palembang City has strong characteristics due to acculturation. However, due to the absence of preservation, Chinese culture in the city of Palembang is fading. In this design, a Chinese cultural center will be designed which functions as a place for cultural preservation where people can educate and have recreation in this place. In accordance with this design theme, "reinterpreting tradition", understanding the characteristics of Chinese architecture in Palembang City is very important, so that the values and traditions of that culture can be interpreted properly into the building. In addition, the utilization of the potential of the surrounding environment is also influential in designing the center of Chinese culture in the city of Palembang.
