Synthesis of Zn/Al Layered Double Hydroxide and preparation of Zn/Al-Celluose have has been carried out with the coprecipitation method. Material has been obtained using as adsorbent of malachite green with various conditions, pH, Adsorption Time, Temperatur and Adsorption concentration, and Material Regeneration. The material was analyzed with many analyses, including Diffraction (XRD) analysis, Fourier Transform Infra-Red analysis (FTIR), and Scanning Electron Microscopy analysis (SEM). The result of analysis XRD showed diffraction peaks at angle 9.83° which that peaks indicated of Zn-Al layered double hydroxide and peaks at angle 22.75° and 34.08°which the peaks indicated Cellulose. The result of the analysis of FT-IR showed a diffraction peak at wavenumber 1373,92 cm-1 which that’s indicated by a group of Zn-O and Al-O and a diffraction peak at wavenumber 2931,8 cm-1 which is indicated by cellulose. The result of the analysis SEM showed an average particle size of 1,128 µm. The adsorption process of malachite green using Zn/Al-Cellulose layered double hydroxide composite optimally occurs at pH 7 and it occurs chemically following the Langmuir isotherm model with a maximum adsorption capacity value of 72,992 mg/g. Kinetic parameters show that the Zn/Al-Cellulose layered double hydroxide composite show that Zn/Al-Cellulose layered double hydroxide composite follows the Pseudo Second Order model while the thermodynamic parameters show that the chemical reaction of the Zn/Al-Cellulose layered double hydroxide composite in adsorption of malachite green occurs spontaneously as indicates bt the Gibs free energy value of -6,360 kJ/Mol. The Zn/Al-Cellulose layered double hydroxide composite regenerated occurred five times and show the ability of the adsorbent to absorb malachite green dye multiple times.
