MODIFIKASI DAN PEMANFAATAN BENTONIT SEBAGAI AGEN ADSORPSI ZAT WARNA RHODAMIN-B DALAM MEDIUM AIR
Research has been carried out on the manufacture of Na-Bentonite which is used as an adsorbent for Rhodamine-B dye. Ca-Bentonite and Na-Bentonite were characterized using Fourier Transform Infra Red (FT-IR), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), and X-Ray Diffraction (XRD). The adsorption process of Rhodamine-B dye on the adsorbent was studied through the effect of contact time, adsorbent mass, dye concentration and adsorption temperature. results Based on the IR-IR analysis showed that Ca-Benit has six peaks, the peak of 3380 cm-1 indicates O-H or OH groups. The peak of 1632 cm-1 is the bending vibration of H-O-H. The peak of 1028 cm-1 indicates the presence of Si-O-Si asymmetry. The peak of 791 cm-1 bending or bending vibration of Al-O-Al. The peaks of 518 cm-1 and 459 cm-1 indicate the presence of cations attached to the bentonite surface. FT-IR Na-Bentonite did not change significantly indicating the stability of the structure of Bentonite. Based on the results of SEM analysis showed that the surface of Na-Bentonite, the shape and size of the particles were more regular and homogeneous than those of Ca-Bentonite. Based on calculations from XRD data, the crystal size of Ca-Bentonite is 4.35 nm and the crystal size of Na-Bentonite is 8.064 nm and the crystal size of the Application Na-Bentonite is 15.73. Bentonite which increases the size of the crystals. The optimum time for Ca-Bentonite is at 75 minutes with an adsorbed dye concentration of 20.50 mg/L and the percentage of dye adsorbed is 68.33% and for Na-Bentonite at 65 minutes with an adsorbed concentration of 23.84 mg. /L and the percentage of dye adsorbed was 79.48%. The effect of Rhodamine-B dye adsorption kinetics is more likely to follow the pseudo second order kinetic equation. The optimum mass of Ca-Bentonite is 0.11 g with an adsorbed dye concentration of 24.82 mg/L and the percentage of adsorbed dye is 82.26% and Na-Bentonite is obtained at a mass of 0.09 gs with an adsorbed concentration of 27 .50 mg/L and the percentage of dye absorbed was 91.67%. The effect of concentration and temperature of adsorption increases the adsorption capacity along with the increase of the adsorption temperature. The parameter of rhodamine-B dye adsorption isotherm followed the Freundlich isotherm.
