Background: Shallot (Allium ascalonicum) contains non-polar antibacterial compounds such as steroid, semi-polar antibacterial compounds such as flavonoid, quercetin, terpenoid, monoterpenoid, sesquiterpenoid and polar antibacterial compounds such as allicin, allin, alkaloid, saponin and quinone. The study w as conducted to determine the ejfect of shallot extract in inhibiting the growth of bacteria that cause gonore disease, Neisseriae gonorrhoeae (gram negative), to asses concentration of shallot extract that can give minimum and maximum inhibitory zone, and to asses its equivalen rate with Standard antibiotic. Methods: The research was designed as descriptive experimental with Post-test Only Control Group Design. Shallot extract was obtained by the maceration using multilevel extraction. Then, the active antibacterial extract was tested against Neisseriae gonorrhoeae isolate by agar diffusion method using Kirby-Bauer disc in different concentration series then the result was statistically analyzed by SPSS version 18. Result: Shallot extract use ethyl acetate and methanol solvent can inhibited the growth of Neisseriae gonorrhoeae with minimum inhibitory zone of ethyl acetate extract was 0,9767±0.03383 mm (consentration 0,0625 gr/ml), maximum inhibitory zone was 14,1400±0.14193 mm (consentration 1 gr/ml), minimum and maximum inhibitory zone of methanol extract was 5,1433±0.19064 mm (consentration 1 gr/ml). Equivalent rate of ethyl acetate and methanol extract compared to ciprofloxacin was 135,4 pg/ml and 0,19 pg/ml respectively against Neisseriae gonorrhoeae, and to ceftriaxone was 668,03 pg/ml and 567,93 pg/ml. Conclusion: Shallot extract (Allium ascalonicum) with ethyl acetate and methanol solvent has inhibitory effect on bacteria Neisseriae gonoirhoeae in in vitro.
