UJI KINERJA SERTA KETAHANAN MEMBRANE ELECTRODE ASSEMBLY (MEA) DENGAN KATALIS Pt-Co/C DAN Pt/C PADA PROTON EXCHANGE MEMBRANE FUEL CELL (PEMFC)
The research about has been carried out on performance and durability tests on the Membrane Electrode Assembly (MEA) using 40% Pt-Co/C electrodes at the anode and 12.5% Pt/C electrodes at the cathode in PEMFC has been done. MEA consists of electrodes and electrolyte membrane in the form of Nafion 212 membrane. The electrodes are made by spraying catalyst layer onto the surface of the gas diffusion layer (GDL), the resulting two electrodes are then fixed to the Nafion 212 membrane. MEA was characterized using cyclic voltammetry (CV) method to determine the site active electrochemistry in MEA by observing the value of electrochemical surface area (ECSA) used and electrical conductivity in MEA. Based on the characterization results, the ECSA value was 60.032 cm2/mg and the electrical conductivity value was 1.47 × 10-6 S/cm which produced I-V curve and I-P. Performance test showed the power density value was 10.7568 mW/cm2 and the optimum current density value was 33.2 ,A/cm2. Endurance test on MEA for 6 hours showed that the initial voltage of 0.242 V dropped to 0.210 V with a difference of 0.032 V.
