PEMBENTUKAN MEMBRAN POLYETHERSULFONE (PES) DENGAN PENCAMPURAN TIMAH DIOKSIDA (SnO2): KARAKTERISTIK, SIFAT MEKANIS DAN KINERJA PENGOLAHAN AIR
The membrane is a layer formed from fine fibers and used as a filter. In their development, polymeric membranes have become interesting materials and have great potential as membranes for filtering contaminated water. The membrane must have a pore size and a strong layer to filter water. In this study, Polyethersulfone (PES) with the addition of an addictive substance Tin Dioxide (SnO2), was prepared using the flat sheet method. This study aims to analyze the effects of the addition of the addictive substance SnO2 and the flat sheet to determine the characteristics and mechanical properties of the membrane and the performance of water treatment. PES@SnO2 membranes were characterized using SEM. The pore size was uniform to the surface agglomeration phenomenon, which decreased with the addition of SnO2. Tensile tests were carried out to determine the mechanical properties of the PES@SnO2 mixed membrane, which showed an increase in optimal tensile strength of 2,074 at a concentration of 20wt% Polyethersulfone (PES). As for its own membrane permeability, it was good at a concentration flux of PES@SnO2 20wt%, reaching a value of 32.6147 L/m2h and classified into ultrafiltration membranes. The manufacture of membranes with the addition of the addictive substance Tin Dioxide (SnO2) and using the flat sheet method opens a new way to produce membranes with dense and even pores, reducing agglomeration and increasing the strength of the membrane.
