PENGARUH AKTIVATOR CAO DAN KATALIS KOH PADA PRODUKSI HIDROGEN DENGAN MENGGUNAKAN METODE ALUMINIUM WATER
Research on the effect of CaO activator and KOH catalyst on hydrogen production from aluminium waste using aluminum-water method has been successfully done. The aims this research were to determine the performance of calcium oxide activator in hydrogen production at several variables and to evaluate the effect of KOH catalyst and on the rate of hydrogen production. Aluminum waste measuring 60 and 100 mesh is used as a material to for produce hydrogen through the aluminum water method with varying mass of activator, KOH concentrations, and temperatures. Optimum condition one gram aluminum with calcium oxide activator 2.5 mL KOH, 5% w/w activator mass, and 35°C temperature. Using KOH 10 M catalyst produced 830 mL of hydrogen rate 60 mL/second. The XRD analysis result of alumina before reaction diffraction pattern angle of 2θ = 38.4°; 44.6°;65.12° and alumina (Al2O3) diffraction pattern angle of 2θ = 25.51°. After being reaction with an activator, the resulting is aluminum hydroxide (Al(OH)3 diffraction pattern angle of 2θ = 39.94°; 46.08°
