FOTODEGRADASI ZAT WARNA CONGO RED MENGGUNAKAN ZnFe2O4 YANG DI-COATING PEG-6000
ZnFe2O4 is a ferrite compound, it is classified as a heterogeneous catalyst and can be used to degrade pollutant pollutants in the environment. The advantage of using ZnFe2O4 as a catalyst is that the catalyst can be easily separated from the solution using a permanent magnet after the photodegradation process. This study aims to synthesize ZnFe2O4 coated with PEG-6000 by coprecipitation method, and its application to reduce the concentration of congo red dye. The synthesized ZnFe2O4 was characterized using XRD, SEM-EDX, VSM, UV-Vis, and pHpzc. Photodegradation variables include dye concentration, photocatalyst mass, and type of salt. Carbon content was analyzed using Total Organic Carbon (TOC). The results of the diffractogram using XRD ZnFe2O4, a sharp peak was observed at an angle (20) of 35.23 degree with a crystal size of 9.14 nm. SEM-EDX obtained that the morphology looks heterogeneous with an irregular surface. The composition analysis results using EDS obtained the type and mass percentage, namely the elements Zn (21.60%), Fe (37.28%), and O 29.56%. The magnetization value of ZnFe2O4 is 59.58 emu/g. ZnFe2O4 has a bandgap of 1.9 eV. The pHpzc ZnFe2O4 value was obtained at pH 5.96. The best condition for reducing congo red dye was obtained at a concentration of 20 mg/L, a mass of ZnFe2O4 0.035, and the addition of salt using NaCl salt with effectiveness of 91.27%. The TOC analysis showed a decrease in the carbon content of 89,20%.
