AKTIVITAS ANTIBAKTERI METABOLIT SEKUNDER DARI DAUN BANDOTAN (AGERATUM CONYZOIDES) TERHADAP BAKTERI SALMONELLA TYPHI
Bandotan (Ageratum conyzoides) is one of the plants of the genus Ageratum which is traditionally used for the treatment of diseases. Bandotan leaves are used to treat diarrhea. Scientific information from the bandotan plant is very limited. This study aims to isolate and test the antibacterial activity of secondary metabolites from bandotan leaf ethyl acetate extract. The study began with maceration extraction using a solvent with increasing polarity. Separation and purification were carried out using chromatographic methods and the structure of the isolated compounds was determined by analyzing spectroscopic data including 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR and by comparing spectroscopic data in the literature. The antibacterial activity test was carried out using the disc diffusion method with the test bacteria in the form of Salmonella typhi. The pure compound isolated was in the form of clear crystals (0.0263 g). Based on the analysis of spectroscopic data and comparing with the literature, the isolated compound was coumarin. The isolated compound showed antibacterial activity with an inhibitory value of 11.95 mm at a concentration of 1000 ppm.
