CO2 gas can be converted into suitable products, one of which is methanol. In this study, CO2 was converted into methanol by the chemical reduction method using a membrane electrode assembly (MEA) as the reaction center. MEA consists of a Nafion-117 electrolyte membrane and two electrodes in the form of cathode and anode. The cathode uses a Cu2O-ZnO/C catalyst applied to the surface of the gas diffusion layer (GDL) and the anode uses a Pt/C catalyst developed on the surface of the backing layer (BL). Both electrodes were combined with Nafion-117 by hot pressing at a temperature of 135ºC and a pressure of 2000 psi within 3 minutes to produce MEA. MEA is mounted on a singlestack electrolyzer made from the above materials. CO2 gas goes to the cathode, on the other hand, water is introduced into the anode side and the reaction that occurs after electrical energy. The electrolyzer applied voltage varied at 0.6; 0.8; 1.0; 1,2; 1.4; 1.6; 1.8 and 2.0 V and the measurement results show the gain of methanol concentration of each voltage is 10.66; 13.2; 13.52; 13.66; 14.5; 15.03; 17.72 and 13.55% (w/v). The CO2 gas that goes to the cathode is regulated at a variable flow rate of 60; 80; 100; 120; 140 and 160 mL/minute and the measurement results show the methanol concentration of each flow rate of 17.72; 20.36; 28.03; 34.34; 23.55 and 12.34% (w/v). The conversion process was carried out within 120 minutes of operation, the response was recorded to decrease due to a decrease in MEA performance. CO2 was successfully converted with the highest value of 93.96 %
