PEMANFAATAN LOW GRADE CRUDE PALM OIL (LGCPO) UNTUK PEMBUATAN SABUN DAN UJI KUALITASNYA
Low Grade Crude Palm Palm Oil (LGCPO) is palm oil low quality with high free fatty acid content which can be used for soap making . The purpose of study to determine the composition of free fatty acids (FFA) in LGCPO based on storage time, determine of LGCPO oil ratio, Sodium hydroxide, stearic acid to produce the best soap product. Soap with the best quality is tested according to SNI-3532:2021, then organoleptic test. the testing of free fatty acids (FFA) in LGCPO using the alkalimetric titration method for around one week for five weeks to do analysis. Afterward, it proceeds with making soap using the heating method. Soap is made with two variable formulations, namely sodium hydroxide and stearic acid. The variation of soap making included LGCPO(g), NaOH(%), stearic acid(g) is 30:10:10, 30:10:12, 30:10:15, 30:20:10, 30:20:12, 30:20:15, 30:30:10, 30:30:12, 30:30:15. The results of the reaserch showed that, equality FFA(%) = 0.0107t + 2563, t is storage time in weeks. The LGCPO high free fatty acids (FFA) is 31.11% used in soap making. Soaps with the best quality variation 30:30:12 with a hard texture, pH 10.26, water content 3% and foam stability of 81.70%. Besides, the test results of the soap has complied with the SNI-3532:2021 requirement except, for the fat value total. The results of the organoleptic testing the highest respondents preference level, namely variation soap 30:30:12 including colour 84%, texture 88% and smell 84%.
