FOTODEGRADASI ZAT WARNA CONGO RED MENGGUNAKAN NANOMAGNETIK MAGNESIUM FERRIT (MgFe2O4)
The research on photodegradation of congo red dye using MgFe2O4 nanomagnetic has been done. MgFe2O4 nanomagnetic, Mg(NO3)2.6H2O and Fe(NO3)3.9H2O with mole ratio (2:1) were synthesized using coprecipitation method. The success of MgFe2O4 synthesis were characterized using XRD, UV-VIS DRS, SEM-EDX, VSM and FTIR. The photodegradation process of congo red variables including the effect of concentration dye, contact time, and photocatalyst reuse. The result of the XRD MgFe2O4 diffractogram showed a diffraction peak (311) at 2θ = 35.55o with crystal size the 14.38 nm. The UV-VIS DRS characterization obtained an energy band gap of 1.9 eV. Morphological MgFe2O4 showed aggregates with non-uniform size and large pore gaps. The results of EDX MgFe2O4 showed that the constituent elements of Mg, Fe, and O were 7.27%, 62.59% and 22.86%, respectively. The saturation magnetization MgFe2O4 value of 17.78 emu/g. The FTIR spectrum of MgFe2O4 before Mg-O, Fe-O, O-H degradation, after MgFe2O4 degradation showed the addition of C=C, N-H, S=O functional groups. MgFe2O4 nanomagnetic has a pHpzc at pH 8. The best condition for photodegradation of congo red dye on the effect concentration dye of 10 mg/L, contact time of 210 minutes, the percent degradation of 95.58% and 95.88%. The reuse of photocatalyst were carried out three times and the percent degradation of 59.15% and the test result using TOC with concentration of 60 mg/L were 90.62%. The result showed that MgFe2O4 was able to degrade congo red dye.
