Research on the effect of current and time variations on palm oil mill effluent treatment using the electrocoagulation method and activated charcoal filtration has been carried out. This study uses the electrocoagulation method with additional activated charcoal filtration which aims to compare the effect of variations in current strength and contact time on pH levels, TDS (Total Dissolve Solid), TSS (Total Dissolve Solid), oils and fats, COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand), aluminum oxide (Al2O3) in palm oil mill effluent (LCPKS). The electrode used is aluminum metal (96,6 %). The variations in current used are 10 amperes, 40 amperes, 70 amperes and 100 amperes, respectively, with a contact time of 1 hour, 2 hours, 3 hours, 4 hours and 5 hours, respectively. From the results of the study, it is known that the current strength and contact time of electrocoagulation have a significant effect on decreasing levels of pH, TSS (Total Dissolve Solid), oil and fat, COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand and aluminum oxide (Al2O3), while the addition of filtration Activated charcoal does not have a significant effect on changes in levels after the electrocoagulation process, but for changes in the color of the waste which are more visible to the senses. The treatment at a current of 100 amperes and a contact time of 5 hours was the best treatment among the others with the efficiency of pH, TDS (Total Dissolve Solid), TSS (Total Suspended Solid), oil and grease, COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) and aluminum oxide (Al2O3),respectively sebesar 4,61 %, 3,65 %, 83,5 %, 70 %, 84,9 % dan 36,36 %. This best treatment is determined based on the best value that is close to the quality standard of palm oil mill effluent (LCPKS) which is adjusted to the Permen.LH/05/2014/Tentang Baku Mutu Air Limbah.
