STUDI KOMPLEKSASI BORON PADA SENYAWA BORAKS TERHADAP PIRIDOKSIN
Borax is a chemical compound derived from boron (B), which is widely used as an antifungal agent, wood preservative, and antiseptic in cosmetics. Boron mostly differs in chemical properties, but in biological activity by forming complexes with biomolecules one of which is pyridoxine. This research aims to study the complexation between boron and pyridoxine with variations in time, temperature and the effect of the amount of pyridoxine by UV-Vis spectrophotometry, characterization of the complex formed can also be studied with Fourier Transform Infra Red (FT-IR) and X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) spectrophotometry. The study was initiated by optimizing the derivatization of borax and pyridoxine where the maximum wavelengths were found in the 205 nm and 292 nm regions, while the boron-pyridoxine complex was found in the 237 nm region. The results obtained from the effect of time that is equal to 40 minutes, the effect of temperature that is equal to 60 C and the amount of pyridoxine that is equal to 2 mg/mL. The results of the Fourier Transform Infra Red (FT-IR) analysis of the boron-pyridoxine complex showed that there were B-OH groups, B-O groups, OH groups, aromatic C=C groups and aliphatic C-C groups. The results of the X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) analysis of the boron-pyridoxine complex obtained a boron diffraction angle of 30.93° and a borax diffraction angle of 53.810°.
