Stress is a mental condition that a person experiences as a result of being under pressure. Stress can negatively affect nurses' physical and psychological health. It may also influence the quality of nursing care. The COVID-19 pandemic had a major impact on the stress level of the Emergency Room (ER) nurses since the ER serves as the entry to all of the hospital's services, which are open 24 hours daily. The research aims to discover the determinant factors of stress on ER nurses at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang during the COVID-19 pandemic. This research employs a quantitative method with a cross-sectional design. Sixty-six participants in this study were chosen using a total sampling technique and had met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data was collected through questionnaires then analysed using the chi-square test and logistic regression. The results of data analysis using the chi-square test found that the variable associated with the stress level of ER nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic is the level of fatigue (p= 0.000). Meanwhile, age (p=0.057), length of employment (p=0.561), and the availability of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (p=0.604) are variables that are not associated with the stress level of ER nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic. The determinant factor related to the stress level of ER nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic is the level of fatigue (p=0.000) with an Odd Ratio (OR) value of 14.091. This indicates ER nurses who suffer from fatigue are 14.091 times more at risk of experiencing stress compared to ER nurses who do not. The result of the study shows that the level of fatigue is a stress determinant factor experienced by ER nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, it is necessary for the RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang to monitor and measure the stress level of ER nurses regularly to ensure that the stress does not interfere with nursing care activities
