PREPARASI TINTA KARBON BINCHOTAN DENGAN OKSIDA LOGAM MANGAN DAN APLIKASINYA PADA DIRECT METHANOL FUEL CELL (DMFC)
The preparation of carbon from binchotan to be catalyst ink with manganese metal oxide and its performance test in direct Methanol Fuel Cell has been done. The preparation of MnO2/C catalyst was done by impregnation method. Carbon dots and carbon vulcan were used as supporting carbon with the ratio 40:60 and 60:40 toward MnO2. MnO2 catalyst, nafion and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) were mixed to be catalyst ink which then sprayed by spraying method into Gas Diffusion Layer (GDL) froming catalyst layer. The catalyst layers were characterized using Cyclic Voltametry (CV) method to calculate Electrochemical Surface Area (ECSA) value and Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) to calculate the conductivity value. The set of membrane electrode assembly (mea) was consisted of nafion 117 membrane which sticked to the anode and cathode side of catalyst layer. The performance test of MEA used varied methanol and resistors in DMFC stack was based on I-V and I-P curve performance. The best ECSA value was 85,68 cm2/g, achieved by MnO2/C carbon vulcan electrode with the ratio of 60:40. The best conductivity value was 3,91 x 10-1 was obtained by MnO2/C electrode carbon vulcan with the ration 60:40. The best MEA performance was gained by MEA which used carbon vulcan with the ratio 60:40 whose value was 83,3 mV in methanol 15%.
