DEGRADASI METILEN BIRU DENGAN KITOSAN-Fe2O3 DAN FOTOFENTON
Synthesis of chitosan-Fe2O3 composite has been carried out and its activity test as a photocatalyst in the photodegradation process of methylene blue with the addition of H2O2 (photofenton) has been carried out. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the chitosan-Fe2O3 composite in the photodegradation process in the presence of H2O2 (photofenton). This process was carried out on two variables, namely variations in the effect of irradiation and the initial concentration of methylene blue. Chitosan-Fe2O3 composites were made with three different ratios, namely (1:1), (1:2), and (1:3). The results of XRD characterization showed the crystal size and characteristic angle of chitosan-Fe2O3 (1:1). Fe2O3 on the surface of chitosan as well as EDS data that attaches the element Fe. Then characterized by UV-DRS so that the chitosan-Fe2O3 band gap energy (1:1) is 1.41 eV. From the results of the study, the highest percentage value for variations in irradiation time was found in 180 minutes with a degradation of 90% and for variations in concentration at a concentration of 5 ppm it was 89.62%.Then the TOC test results were 92.20%.
