ASUHAN KEPERAWATAN PADA PASIEN DENGAN RESPIRATORY FAILURE ON MECHANICAL VENTILATOR DI GICU RSUP DR. MOHAMMAD HOESIN PALEMBANG
Background: Respiratory failure is one of the indications of patients with the use of a mechanical ventilator in the ICU. Nursing problems that often occur in patients with respiratory failure with a mechanical ventilator, namely ineffective airway clearance. That is because patients installed with mechanical ventilators can inhibit cough reflexes which results in an increase in the production of secretions or sputum in the airway and a reduced ability to clean the secretions. The action that needs to be done is in the form of suction. Aim: Knowing the description of the implementation of the professional practice of Emergency Nursing (KGD) which is focused on providing nursing care to patients with respiratory failurre on mechanical ventilators based on evidence-based in the GICU RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. Method: The method used in this study is quantitative with a case study approach. The subjects of the case study in this study were three patients to determine nursing care in respiratory failure patients with mechanical ventilators. Result: The results obtained in the form of the three patients using different ventilator modes, namely the SIMV, CMV, CPAP / PSV modes. The main problem in the three patients was ineffective airway clearance which was characterized by excessive secretions in the ETT and around the mouth and a decrease in oxygen saturation. After suction action is carried out, oxygen saturation increases. Conclusion: The conclusion was obtained that the three patients experienced airway obstruction so that they experienced a decrease in peripheral oxygen saturation. It is necessary to suction during the installation of a mechanical ventilator so that oxygen saturation is in a normal stretch to avoid lack of oxygen. Keyword: Respiratory Failure, Suction, Mechanical Ventilator, Ineffective airway clearance
