ANALISIS MANAJEMEN REDAKSIONAL PADA SURAT KABAR HARIAN UMUM PALEMBANG POS.
Every day people interact with mass media in the modern world. This means that almost every part of daily life involves communication through mass media, this interaction occurs both individually and as a group. As a result, mass media technology is developing rapidly due to its widespread use. Newspapers remain the preferred medium for some people as a medium for receiving information. Editorial management is needed in a printed mass media company or newspaper in increasing competitiveness and results against every potential it has. This study aims to determine how the implementation of the editorial management function in the Palembang Pos Daily newspaper. This study uses the theory of management functions according to George R. Terry in Sukarna (2011). Research data obtained from primary and secondary data sources. Primary data was obtained through observation and interviews with the editor-in-chief, managing editor, and page editor of the Palembang Pos Daily newspaper, then secondary data was obtained from the study of documentation. From the results of the study, it can be concluded that the editorial management of the Palembang Pos Daily newspaper has implemented four editorial management functions, namely the planning function, organizing function, directing function, and supervisory function. From these four dimensions, the researcher found that the planning function plays a major role in all activities that will be carried out by the Palembang Pos Daily newspaper in an effort to achieve its goals. Researchers also see that the implementation of the organizing function in the editorial management of the Palembang Pos Daily newspaper has not been maximized due to a lack of human resources which has the potential to cause an imbalance in the division of tasks..
