The Ketupat War tradition has been able to maintain its existence since it emerged into the life of the people of Tempilang District more than a century ago. The background of a major event, namely the attack on lanon or sea pirates in the land of Tempilang around the 18th century which was marked by looting, massacre, and murder made the community as an instrument of creating reality or meaning together creating the Ketupat War Tradition. As a result of creativity, the Ketupat War Tradition is full of meaning, where the maturity of this meaning is the result of the construction of the community itself as the actor and owner of the tradition. This study uses the social reality construction theory of Peter L. Berger and Thomas Luckmann (1996) which is shown through a dialectic process, namely externalization, objectivation, and internalization. This study aims to determine and analyze the description of the construction of meaning in the Ketupat War Tradition in Tempilang District, West Bangka Regency. This study uses qualitative research methods by presenting qualitative descriptive data analysis and data collection techniques by means of in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The main informants of this research are traditional leaders. The results of the study indicate that the meaning that is constructed and wants to be conveyed through the implementation of the Ketupat War Tradition is a cultural identity that is important to maintain and preserve its existence considering the richness of this tradition in historical values. The construction of the meaning of cultural identity in the Ketupat War Tradition undergoes a dialectic process presented by Berger and Luckmann (1996). Keywords: Social Reality Construction, Meaning, Ketupat War Tradition
