KEPENTINGAN JEPANG DI KONFLIK LAUT TIONGKOK SELATAN TAHUN 2018-2020
The South China Sea conflict is one example of disputes between groups that have occurred for a long time. Conflict can be a form of long arms to achieve an interest. This makes several state actors involved with certain goals or interests to be achieved. Therefore, this study aims to find Japan's interests in the South China Sea Conflict. The method that will be used is descriptive qualitative where the data in this study is obtained from literature studies such as books, journals, research, reports, documents from the internet and news. The author uses Donald E. Nuechterlein's concept of national interest to analyze and classify these interests. The four types of national interests that the authors describe in this study are: Defense Interests, Economic Interests, International Order Interests, and Ideological Interests. Based on the resuLaut Tiongkok Selatan of the analysis, it is found that Japan has an interest in the security aspect, namely defending itself from external and internal disturbances from Chinese military activities. In addition, there is also an economic interest, namely increasing international trade shipping lanes for the smooth running of its economic activities without obstacles from the dominating country.
