PENGARUH PASTA GIGI DENGAN BERBAGAI KANDUNGAN FLUORIDA TERHADAP LAJU KOROSI KAWAT NIKEL-TITANIUM
The application of wire in the mouth that was exposed by physical and Chemical agents can cause corrosion. One of the Chemical agents that can ajfect corrosion in the mouth is toothpaste containing fluoride. Fluoride compounds containing toothpaste are sodium fluoride, sodium monofluorophosphate, and combination of both. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of fluoride containing toothpaste on the corrosion rate of nic/cel-titanium wire. Thirty two sample of round nickel-titanium wire with diameter of 0,016 inch and length of 10 cm were divided into four equal groups: immersed in artificial saliva (group 1 Controls), immersed in 0,32% NaF containing toothpaste solution (group 2), immersed in 1,12% Na2P03F containing toothpaste solution (group 3), immersed in 0,06% NaF+0,76% Na2P03F containing toothpaste solution (group 4). The corrosion rate was calculated using weight loss method. The results showed the corrosion rate of nickel-titanium in control group was 0,1103±0,04455 mpy, in NaF group was 0,32% 0,7499+0,12379 mpy, in Na2POsF 1,12% group was 0,3944+0,11089 mpy, in 0,06% NaF+0,76% Na2PC>3F group was 0,3390+0,06664 mpy.
