This thesis is entitled Analysis of Community Participation in Overcoming Abrasion in the Coastal Area of Balai Naras Village, North Pariaman District, Pariaman City, West Sumatra Province. The purpose of this study was to determine how community participation in tackling abrasion in the coastal area of Balai Naras Village. This study uses the concept of participation according to Verhangen in Mardikanto and Soebiato 2019. This study uses qualitative research methods with a case study research strategy. Data collection was obtained through observation, in-depth interviews with 14 informants consisting of 10 main informants and 4 supporting informants and documentation. The results of this study indicate that the form of community participation in tackling abrasion in Balai Naras Village is 1. The participation of coastal communities in making sandbag embankments. 2. Participation of coastal communities in planting trees on the coast. 3. Participation of the Balai Naras Village disaster task force team in making embankments from sandbags. 4. Participation of community leaders in lobbying the central/municipal government. 5. Community participation in the form of material assistance from the Balai Naras Village community and the village/city government (Karung). 6. Participation in the form of financial assistance from the city/central government. 7. Participation of the Balai Naras Village disaster task force team and Balai Naras Village Youth in the installation of grip stones. And the benefits of community participation in tackling abrasion based on statements from informants are indeed the benefits of community participation, namely in terms of security, environment, economics, and social aspects.
