MONITORING DAN PREDIKSI EROSI DI KEBUN PERCOBAAN KELAPA SAWIT FAKULTAS PERTANIAN UNIVERSITAS SRIWIJAYA
The aim of this research is to monitoring the erosion directly in the oil palm plantation experiments and predict erosion using the USLE. The field work was conducted on the experimental garden of the Agriculture Faculty, Sriwijaya University. The soil samples analysed on Physics, Chemical, and Soil Conservation of Soil Department of Agriculture Faculty, University of Sriwijaya. This research was start ffom study March to May 2012. Based the USLE method, erosion prediction effected by many factors such as rainfall (erosivity), soil sensitivity (erodibility), length and degree of slope, land cover and land use. Meanwhile the erosion monitoring using markers (stick) and planted on ground. When the thickness of the soil eroded soil loss (mm) can be seen from a distance with the sign reduced. The results of the highest erosion prediction using the USLE is 39.45 tons / ha / yr and the results of the monitoring are 21.1 ton / ha / yr at 6% slope with a slope length of 36 meters, while the lowest predicted results is 3.29 tons / ha / yr and the results of monitoring of 6.1 ton / ha / yr on the slopes of 0%. Comparisons between the results of monitoring is higher than the results predicted erosion occurs on slopes of 0%, 6.1 tons / ha / yr and 3.29 ton / ha / yr. So, oil palm not match for 3% or 6% slope degree.
