Interpersonal communication strategies are needed to improve performance between coaches and athletes. The way that can be done by coaches in order to improve the achievements of their athletes is by conducting two-way communication and creating a relationship called interpersonal communication. what are the barriers to interpersonal communication between badminton coaches and athletes in improving the performance of badminton in the city of Palembang. The theory used in this study is the theory of Joseph DeVito, with a humanistic aspect approach, namely openness, empathy, supportive attitude, positive attitude , and equality. The communication strategy that strongly supports the improvement of athlete achievement is by being open to each other, supporting each other and equality. However, thinking barriers and differences in perceptions between coaches and athletes can also hinder the achievement process of the athletes themselves.
