Fixed orthodontic treatment is treatment by attaching orthodontic appliances on teeth in the oral cavity. Orthodontic treatment may be onefactor in the etiology of temporomandibular disorders because orthodontic treatment is considered as a major cause of pain in patients. Basically, fixed orthodontic treatment will not cause signs and symptoms of temporomandibular disorders when treatment is done carefully and thoroughly when planning, conducting and completing fixed orthodontic treatment. The aim of this study is to find out how much the prevalence of temporomandibular disorders (TMD) during fixed orthodontic treatment in the student dental medical Science, Sriwijaya University. The method that used in this study is descriptive survey that consists of sampling survey, non-experimental research. The results showed that the sample group had the greatest prevalence in the entire examination temporomandibular joint disorder is a sample of women with thecase of class II division 1 malocclusion Angle with four premolars extraction. Therefore, fixed orthodontic treatment should be done by considering the occlusal position and the stable joint position. Establishing orthopedic stability in the masticatory is an important concept for maintaining a healthy masticatory System for patients.
