Background: Anxiety and fear of treatment were important factors that cause patients to avoid dental care. Tranquilizers drugs can be used to solve that problem. Mimosa pudica Linn. is one type of plants commonly used as medicinal plants. Mimosa pudica Linn leaves contains saponin which had tranquilizers effects. The aim of this research was to evaluate the tranquilizers effects of Mimosa pudica Linn. leaves extracts on male wistar rats. Methods: This was an experimental research with post test only control group design. Samples of this research were 30 male wistar rats which were divided into three treatment groups dan two control groups. The treatment groups were given Mimosa pudica Linn. leaves extracts with doses 100 mg/KgBB (Pl), 200 mg/KgBB (P2), 300 mg/KgBB (P3), positive control group was given diazepam 0,45 mg/KgBB, and negative control group was given aquadest 2 ml orally. Fourty five minutes after treatment, rats were placed in elevated plus maze model and time spent in closed arms were recorded for 5 minutes. The data was analyzed with one-way ANOVA followed by Posi Hoc LSD. Results: The result showed all doses Mimosa pudica Linn. leaves extracts significantly decreased time spent in closed arms (p0,05) between all doses Mimosa pudica Linn. leaves extracts and positive control group. Conclusion: Mimosa pudica Linn. leaves extracts has the tranquilizers effects on male wistar rats.
