This study is related to the arrests of Nia Ramadhani and Ardi Bakrie in drug abuse cases. Both of them are known as part of the Public Figure, making their drug cases finally get a lot of attention from various mass media in Indonesia, including the online news media Kompas.com and Viva.co.id. The purpose of this study is to see in framing how the drug cases of Nia Ramadhani and Ardi Bakrie’s public figures are packaged by the media throught the news that is presented. The study uses framing analysis method from Zhongdang Pan and Gerald M. Kosicki with structures namely Syntactic, Script, Thematic and Rhetorical. This study also uses the political economy theory of media from Vincent Mosco with three concepts namely Commodification, Spatialization and Structuration. The study data was collected from news related to the arrests of Nia Ramadhani and Ardi Bakrie on Kompas.com and Viva.co.id in the period 8-11 July 2021. The results showed that the framing that was raised by the media Kompas.com and Viva.co.id have different packaging and are also influenced by the political economy of each media.
