Checking certificates is an administrative step carried out by Land Deed Maker before making transactions related to the object. In fact, the Land Deed Maker was negligent in checking the certificate at the National Land Agency Office. The purpose of this study is to analyze how the practice of checking certificates at the National Land Agency Office, analyze the legal consequences that arise if The Land Deed Maker is negligent in checking, and what legal solutions can be taken if there is negligence by The Land Deed Maker. This research uses normative research methods. The results of the study explain the process that currently has to do online checks and is more efficient in practice even though the field has obstacles that need to carry out certificate validation activities first before checking. This is done by applying the principle of caution in making deeds. As a public official, this must be done because a PPAT has an obligation to ensure that all documents and certificates are appropriate.
