HUBUNGAN pH SALIVA DENGAN KARIES GIGI PADA SISWA SEKOLAH DASAR NEGERI 12 PALEMBANG
Dental caries prevalence in the world, include Indonesia, is high. This problem has correlation with host condition, food consumption, microorganism, and contuining interaction between those factors. One of host condition is saliva (sulcular fluid in oral mucosa). Saliva can determine demineralization process depend on system buffet capacity and pH saliva. pH saliva measurement is a good manner to diagnose process of caries, but information of pH saliva is limited. Objective. The aim of this research is to determine relationship between pH saliva with dental caries to students of SDN 12, Palembang. Method. The data was taken from the result of measurement of pH saliva(pH meter) and dental caries (indeks def-t and DMF-T). Data obtained were analyzed with Pearson correlation test. Result. Pearson correlation score (r) pH saliva with index def-t is -0,598 and with index DMF-T is -0,471, and p (sig) 0,000. Conclusion. This research shows that pH saliva has signifigant relation with dental caries prevalence in children. The lower pH saliva, the higher dental caries are suffered and visaverca.
