The elderly are a group of people with a high risk of transmitting COVID-19, even if it impacts the severity experienced. In this study, the elderly group was classified into the pre-elderly age group (50-64 years) and the elderly (≥65 years) (Ministry of Health, 2013; CDC; 2021). The high mortality rate in the elderly causes concerns that cannot be prevented. Based on a report from the COVID-19 Task Force of the Republic of Indonesia, the death rate due to COVID-19 at the age of 60 years reached 46.8% of the total population. In addition, in South Sumatra, Palembang City, the death rate per age group shows that the older the COVID-19 sufferer, the higher the risk of dying. Referring to this statement, this study was conducted to describe the incidence of healing to guide in dealing with pain in elderly COVID-19 patients. This research uses mixed methods with an explanatory approach. Quantitative data was obtained from SISUGI secondary data recorded in 2020-2021, which the Palembang City Health Office managed, while qualitative data were obtained through in-depth interviews with ten informants. The results showed that the most elderly and pre-elderly COVID-19 patients in Palembang City were men (57.9%), older adults aged 50-64 (42.1%), comorbid hypertension (24.6%), and cough symptoms (56.2%). Meanwhile, in survivors, the most cures occurred in men, older adults aged 50-64 years, with comorbid hypertension and cough symptoms. In addition, other survival factors that affect the recovery of elderly and pre-elderly patients were found: individual factors, closely related person factors, and health service factors.
