Multiwahana Market is a private traditional market consisting of various kinds of traders ranging from clothing, food, glassware, and others. This market is always crowded by visitors because it is in the middle of residential areas and adjacent to the terminal. The number of traders is 800 people. However, the large number of traders and visitors is not accompanied by the condition of supporting sanitation facilities, where sanitation facilities are one of the important things in maintaining health around the market because it can potentially be a place for disease transmission, environmental pollution or other health problems. The purpose of this study was to analyze how the condition of environmental sanitation facilities in the Multiwahana Market, Sialang Village, Sako District, Palembang City. This research was conducted using qualitative methods, where the data used were based on the results of in-depth interviews, observations, and document reviews and were analyzed descriptively. The validity of the data is known through data triangulation, method triangulation, and source triangulation. There were 15 informants in this study, consisting of the head of the market manager, cleaners, traders, and visitors or buyers. The results show that Multiwahana Market has made efforts to provide environmental sanitation facilities in Multiwahana Market, such as providing water for hygiene and sanitation needs, garbage disposal sites, bathrooms and toilets, waste water disposal channels (SPAL), and hand washing facilities. However, there are several shortcomings in these sanitation facilities, namely there is no testing of water quality, the distance between bathrooms and toilets is less than 10 meters from food vendors, landfills are not made of strong and water-resistant materials, SPAL is not accompanied by a control / non-permanently closed tub, and the hand washing area is not equipped with soap. This is not in accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia No. 17 of 2020 concerning Healthy Markets. Suggestions for this research are for market managers to pay more attention to efforts in maintaining and managing sanitation facilities in the market so that they are in accordance with applicable regulations.
