HUBUNGAN ASUPAN PROTEIN DENGAN KEJADIAN ASAM URAT PADA MEMBER FITNESS DI PUSAT KEBUGARAN KOTA PALEMBANG
Protein is an important component in food. Excessive protein intake, especially those containing high purines can cause gout. This study aims to determine the relationship between protein intake and the incidence of gout in fitness members in the city of Palembang. This study used an observational study with a cross sectional method involving 67 respondents who were selected by accidental sampling at four fitness centers in the city of Palembang. Protein intake was obtained through semi-quantitative food frequency and uric acid levels through blood checking with a portable uric acid device. This study showed that 79% of the sample did not meet the recommended protein requirements and the type of protein consumed by members of fitness was mostly animal protein 71.6%, while the incidence of gout in this study the majority had normal uric acid levels of 86.8% and not normal as much as 13.4%. The results of the bivariate analysis using Rank Spearman showed that there was a relationship between protein intake and the incidence of gout in Sig fitness members. (2-tailed) 0.005 < 0.05, it means that there is a significant relationship between the variable protein intake and the incidence of gout in fitness members, and r = 0.343 which means the level of strength of the relationship between protein intake and the incidence of weak gout. The conclusion in this study is that there is a relationship between protein intake and the incidence of gout in fitness members at the Palembang City fitness center. Suggestions in this study, for a fitness center research place, are expected to provide nutritionists so that the fulfillment of nutrition for fitness members can meet their needs.
