Introduction. Labiopalatoschizis or cleft lip/palate is one of the most common congenital malformation. National prevalence of labiopalatoschizis is 0.2%. South Sumatra is one of seven provinces with cleft lip prevalence above national prevalence. South Sumatra in 2007 found that the prevalence of cleft lip was 10.6%. With the number of cases of babies born with cleft lip in South Sumatra, there are various characteristics of these abnormalities. This study aims to identify the characteristics of labioplatoschizis patients in children at Dr. RSUP Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. Method. This study used an observational method with quantitative descriptive design. The research sample is the medical record of pediatric patients with labiopalatochizis in RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang 2015-2017. The characteristics that will be observed in this study are age, gender, type of malformation, location, type of treatment and type of operative management of labiopalatoschizis patients. Result. The highest patient distribution was found at 1-3 years age group with 38 cases (38.4%), male gender 53 patients (53.5%), with Cleft lip palate (CLP) type 51 patients (51.1%), bilateral location 9 cases (52.9%), the type of treatment mostly operative management 91 cases (91.9%) and the highest operative management is palatoplasty 52 cases (57.1%). Discussion. This study found that the characteristics of labiopalatoschizis patients in Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang is not much different from previous research.
